Dr. Ashley Rominger grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, but moved to Hickory and joined 3rd Ave. Dental in 2021. Dr. Rominger has enjoyed making Hickory her home and getting involved in the local community.
Dr. Rominger completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. She then obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with honors.
Dr. Rominger is an active member in Western Piedmont Dental Society, Foothills Dental Continuum, American Dental Association, and the North Carolina Dental Society. Dr. Rominger strives to make patients feel comfortable while in the office. Her favorite aspect of dentistry is working with patients to restore and maintain healthy smiles.
When Dr. Rominger is not in the office, you will find her hiking, traveling, cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers and Carolina Panthers, or spending time with her husband, friends and family.
Dr. James Boggs believes that dentistry is a combination of medicine, engineering, and art. He feels that a smile is an important part of who a person is and that a healthy smile makes a person look and feel good.
Dr. Boggs completed his undergraduate work at Mars Hill College and University of North Carolina at Asheville. Once he received his Bachelors of Science Degree, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1997. Upon completion of dental school, Dr. Boggs elected to attend an AEGD residency in Belington, West Virginia to acquire an expanded understanding of comprehensive dentistry. Dr. Boggs began his private practice in Spartanburg, South Carolina but shortly moved to and began practicing in Hickory, North Carolina. In October of 1999, Dr. Boggs Dentistry was established and 3rd Avenue Dental was established in 2021.
Since he began practicing, Dr. Boggs has been focused on providing the highest quality of care while remaining up to date on the most recent developments in dentistry. He has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education and is a certified Invisalign provider. Dr. Boggs has taken advantage of several mission work opportunities, both in and out of the United States. He is a longtime member of the Granite Falls Rotary Club and served as president 2011-2012.
Dr. Boggs and his wife have been married for over 25 years and have 2 children, Allie and Connor. He has many different hobbies including mountain biking, motor cycling, archery, playing the didgeridoo, and hiking.

Dr. Tracey Horton grew up in Kings Mountain, NC and attended Appalachian State University. After finishing dental school at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, she practiced dentistry in Hickory since July of 1994 and is now part of the 3rd Avenue Dental team. She has 2 fur babies-Katla (a pit bull shelter mutt) and Valerie (a finicky tabby cat). Most weekends you can find her running and officiating USTA junior and adult tennis tournaments throughout NC. She also works as a line judge at professional women's and men's tennis tournaments. She enjoys hiking (she has been to the bottom of the grand canyon twice) and playing tennis
